Water Processing

Water display

Water covers approximately 71% of the Earth's surface and CLYDEUNION Pumps can help harness and direct it. As our supply of water becomes more important, the way we use and re-use water become ever more complex. The processing of water for industrial, power and manufacturing applications is now becoming further explored as we face the reality of keeping our drinking and household water pure. Our products are synonymous with water projects from the UK to Asia and most other world regions.

Desalination Processing

CLYDEUNION Pumps offer a wide range of products designed specifically for the desalination process. Main Pumps, Intake pumps, Booster pumps, HP Pumps, HP Booster, 2nd Pass pump, Brine pump, Produced water pump and Auxiliary Pumps are all available.

Industrial Production

In addition to our award winning Uniglide and Duoglide products we have an extensive range of single stage end suction pumps plus single and multiple stage vertical turbine pumps capable of servicing most industrial applications.
Beyond Excellence

Our new HPRO pump has been designed for the latest generation of desalination plants around the globe. This product is seen as one of the most highly engineered in its class enabling CLYDEUNION Pumps to serve the desalination market with another innovative product.

Throughout our history, the success of CLYDEUNION Pumps has been founded on the ability to deliver engineering solutions that provide the most reliable and highest quality performance.

Water industry

It is estimated that 15% of world-wide water use is industrial. Major industrial users include power plants, which use water for cooling or as a power source (i.e. hydroelectric plants), ore and oil refineries, which use water in chemical processes, and manufacturing plants, which use water as a solvent. The portion of industrial water usage that is consumptive varies widely, but as a whole is lower than agricultural use.

Reverse Osmosis is the most common method of desalination, although 85 percent of desalinated water is produced in multistage flash plants. Large reverse osmosis and multistage flash desalination plants are used in the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia. The energy requirements of the plants are large, but electricity can be produced relatively cheaply with the abundant oil reserves in the region. The desalination plants are often located adjacent to the power plants, which reduces energy losses in transmission and allows waste heat to be used in the desalination process of multistage flash plants, reducing the amount of energy needed to desalinate the water and providing cooling for the power plant.

Every manufactured product uses water during some part of the production process. Industrial water use includes water used for such purposes as fabricating, processing, washing, diluting, cooling, or transporting a product; incorporating water into a product; or for sanitation needs within the manufacturing facility. Some industries that use large amounts of water produce such commodities as food, paper, chemicals, refined petroleum, or primary metals.
