Job Description:  

Full responsibility for centrifugal pump engineering including all stress/distortion related calculations on pump pressure boundaries and structures, rotor dynamic calculations for the pumps and the drive trains, using company design rules and FE analyses where necessary.

Support the creation of technical specifications for the procurement of sub-supplier equipment ensuring specification compliance and practical engineering is accommodated.  Engage in discussions with customers and suppliers worldwide on technical matters, ensuring specification compliance, integrity of interfacing information and sound engineering practice is being applied.  Establish new practices methods and procedures to enhance the engineering discipline’s capabilities for future work.

Ensure that applied design and engineering procedures are in accordance with Company Standards, Department Procedures and Quality Management Systems. Contribute to continual improvement process through feedback and active resolution of problems of a technical nature to the appropriate area of responsibility.

Requirements / Responsibilities:  
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years relevant experience in detailed engineering and technical management of centrifugal pumps.
  • Alternatively an HNC in Mechanical Engineering with considerable relevant experience in detailed engineering and technical management of centrifugal pumps shall also be considered.
  • Experience in the application of regulatory standards, design codes and other international engineering guidelines relative to the pumping industry, including material selection.
  • Practical knowledge and experience in mechanical assemblies and packaging of equipment. 
  • To ensure cost and quality factors are fully accommodated and that all activities are completed within target in terms of scope, detail, cost and timescale.
  • To be a pro-active team worker and share knowledge and experience with others.

Job Description:  
  • Creation of detail drawings with tolerancing and geometric symbols, detailed parts lists using SAP with component routing information and other necessary documents, using corporate systems, for manufacture of pumpsets and ancillary equipment.
  • Ensure that applied design and engineering procedures are in accordance with Company standards and Quality Management Systems.
  • Ensure timely implementation of all design/technical requirements to satisfy project goals.  Liaise as required with sub-contractors and engineers.

Requirements / Responsibilities:  
  • Technician apprenticeship with ONC minimum (HNC preferred) in Mechanical Engineering or similar related subject with at least 3 years relevant experience in the detailing of rotating machinery, preferably pumps.
  • Experience in using 2D CAD drawing packages. 
  • Exposure to 3D CAD and solid modelling (Solidworks) is preferred.
  • Practical knowledge and experience in mechanical assemblies.

Due to an increasing workload, the above positions have become available in the Engineering team within the Upstream Oil BU.

  • Carry out drive train rotor analyses including torsional and lateral critical speed calculations.
  • Create technical specifications for the procurement of sub-supplier equipment ensuring specification compliance and practical engineering is accommodated.

Job Description:  

To support the growth of our increased order activity with in the aftermarket service department duties will include:-

  • Receive and provide shop reports on broken or damaged units in the service centre.
  • Determine failure mode.
  • Attend CUP test facility for preparation and installation of various pumps.
  • Utilisation of various general shop tooling, including slinging and carriage.
  • Rebuilding of all units utilising parts which are new or have been refurbished.
  • Prepare components for various processes i.e. shot blast, painting and machining.
  • Utilise heat equipment and final measuring equipments.
Requirements / Responsibilities:  
  • Good communications skills for interfacing with engineering, commercial and customers.
  • Computer literate as SAP and other in-house systems will be accessed.
  • Flexibility to work outside i.e. to attend customers site, on-shore and potentially off-shore.
  • Must be time-served engineering apprenticeship and turning experience would be an advantage.

Job Description:  

ClydeUnion Pumps has an extremely healthy order book, serving multiple and vibrant markets which are undergoing accelerated growth. To meet the demands of our Customers, ClydeUnion Pumps has an immediate requirement for an experienced 3D-CAD Design Engineer to work within the Engineering Technology dept. at our Glasgow Facility.
Utilising state of the art Design and Workflow tools, the role requires a very high level of proficiency in using the SolidWorks CAD Package to model complex 3D surfaces and solid geometry, multi component assemblies and associated 2D detail drawings.
The successful candidates will be working alongside Specialist CFD, FEA, N&V, Hydraulic and Mechanical Engineers, to produce 3D Models and 2D Drawings for Centrifugal Pump components/assemblies and related auxiliary hardware for both Engineered To Order (ETO) Jobs and Research and Development (R & D) Projects.

Requirements / Responsibilities:  

Ideally candidates will already have detailed knowledge and experience of designing/modelling parts for centrifugal pumps. However, CUP will also consider candidates who can demonstrate in-depth experience and knowledge of applying their 3D CAD Design skills for other types of machinery which incorporate a similar diverse range of components (complex shapes, machined castings, forgings, fine running clearances, intricate assemblies, bearings, high pressure casings and sealing etc).

  • Experience in generation and management of General Arrangements, Layouts and Manufacturing.
  • Detail Drawings for both assemblies and individual components to a high standard is necessary.
  • At least 3 years experience of using SolidWorks to produce similar complex and wide-ranging outputs is required.
  • Appropriate qualifications would be either a Mechanical Engineering Degree or Time Served Apprenticeship with HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering supplemented by a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience in 3D CAD Design.

Job Description:  

Due to the expansion of our Aftermarket business, opportunities have arisen for Field Service Engineers to support our development of a global service business to our diverse customer and product base.                   
There will be a requirement to travel globally as business demands, to undertake Field Service activities either in local workshops or on customers sites. Key activities will be in relation to pumping plant in critical applications in in the power, oil and gas, water and industrial markets.

Requirements / Responsibilities:  
  • Undertake site investigation to quantify possible source of reported operational problems providing reports.
  • Install and Commission of new OE Equipment Pump Packages.
  • Supervise locally recruited service engineers.
  • Manage the removal of pumping equipment from sites for transfer to service workshops or to the Glasgow Service Centre.
  • Re-installation and commissioning of pumping equipment returned from overhaul.
  • Production of detailed reports to support the Return to Cathcart Overhaul Process.
  • Planning and effective communication are key aspects of the role complimenting sound practical experience and capability.
  • Internal & External Liaison with Project Stakeholders.
  • Providing hands on support to technical Support Engineer on any site investigation.
  • Undertake pump and pump set assembly within manufacturing plant between global service activities.
  • The role requires a time-served engineer or fitter who ideally has substantial experience in operating within a pump service environment.
  • Self-management under pressure and with changing priorities.
  • The successful candidate will be required to travel to customer sites as business demands and be subject to extreme variations in climate and locations.
  • This requires individuals with personal attributes and circumstances who are personally satisfied operating in such an environment. 
  • Candidates must have Full UK Drivers License.
