The historic roots of CLYDEUNION Pumps Glasgow has been secured with the sale of the site to Cala Homes falling through. The factory is one of seven which CLYDEUNION Pumps now operate; the others covering our Global footprint are in Shenyang, Delhi, Battle Creek, Penistone, Annecy and Burlington. The Weir Group PLC had planned to sell the Cathcart plant for redevelopment before Cala Homes ended interest in the site. In parallel with this change in property ownership was the Clyde Blowers buyout of the Weir Pumps business. After extensive negotiations CLYDEUNION Pumps and WEIR Group PLC have reached an agreement on a three year lease of the property to CLYDEUNION Pumps which includes an option to buy the site. Jim McColl led discussions with WEIR Group and is delighted to have secured these agreements in respect of the site which has been the home of the company since Victorian times. CLYDEUNION Pumps are building a new range of class leading products which are designed for conventional and nuclear power, water and industrial, oil up stream and downstream, as well as the growing aftercare markets. The plant has held its Asme ‘N’ status since 1977 and continues to be a provider of engineering solutions for the world's infrastructure. The factory was established in 1886 and manufactured pumps and valves for ships' engines, desalination plants and heavy power station equipment for customers around the globe. This tradition is being continued by CLYDEUNION, with the latest generation of cutting edge fluid processing solutions and aftercare. |
