CLYDEUNION Pumps received the first instalment of an order valued around $5m from Shanghai Turbo Machinery Co (STMC), for boiler feed cartridges on 7th April '09. The order requires the first set of cartridges to be shipped to China in December '09 and the second set in March '10. The total Sasan project is for 6 x 660 MW units in India with three BFP's per unit giving a total requirement of 18 BFP's. It's the clients stated intention to order 18 + 2 spares in 2009, with the orders coming as 2 units (6 cartridges) at a time. This contract award is the first step on the road to re establishing CLYDEUNION as a major player in the global conventional power market. Business Unit MD Mark Hannigan commented, "These cartridges are being supplied to a Chinese EPC contractor who is building a power station in India, so it’s critical that CLYDEUNION Pumps are viewed as a global player who can support power generation projects across the globe". The Sasan power plant in the Madhya Pradesh region of India is one of the Ultra Mega Power Projects that the Government of India hopes will end power shortages. Each plant will have a combined capacity of 4000 MW, so this contract could be a key win for CLYDEUNION Pumps. This project runs beside other STMC contracts in which our continuing partnership shows no end of success. |
